So here’s Crew Member, Bart prepping the liquor isle at Kroger Normal, IL. The existing floor is AFU and the constuction team has called on us to fix the situation.
Originally, the team wanted polished concrete, the new Kroger standard in stores, but upon removing the existing flooring they discovered this nightmare. Layers upon layers of latex floor leveler over top of old quarry tile. All different levels. Most well bonded. Some not. All of which is unsuitable for polishing.
Calling in the floor magicians.
OK so heres what we are gonna do. Last thing first: imagine faux wood plank luxury vinyl tile (LVT). Working back from there, we gotta have a well bonded level subfloor.
That brings us to Bart. Here he’s vaccuming out the areas that he jackhammer ed out after finding the unsuitable spots.
Yep, the magic is all in building a new subfloor.
Below I’ve added some more photos of our magical turd polishing progress.
